Two architects who left to build this life
We're Gonzalo and Shaan. We spent twenty years planning some of the world's most complicated projects - FIFA World Cup and Commonwealth Games venues.
Then we left, moved to one acre of tired coastal land in South Africa, and learned how land actually works - mostly by getting it wrong first, on our own soil.
Gonzalo guides the programme. Shaan brings the architecture - buildings that belong to the land instead of sitting on top of it.
The work behind the method
Before Land Led was a programme, it was real projects. Two we're proud of:
Andreas
Heidelberg, Western Cape, South Africa
Bought his land twenty years ago and built a single cabin, never sure what to do with the rest. We turned two decades of paralysis into a plan for a small regenerative community with a place to host guests. Shaan is designing phase one now.
Despi & Pat
Monzi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Despi inherited the family farm. Part of it flooded worse every year and was becoming a burden - they were close to selling. We re-envisioned it with water at its heart, turning the flooding from the problem into the feature. They chose to invest, not sell.
